I really disliked the first edition but found a few useful things in some of the pdfs I have bought for the second (esp Beastmen- the animal PCs rules and the mutation system). When I saw that part of DW II is being sold as The Survivor's Handbook (and is still in print), I bought it. It has all the rules- races, classes, mutations and technology and none of the setting.
